In 2008, when I began counseling and educating athletes, I was 38 years old and my clients were in high school or college. Fast forward 17 years later, and I’m now 55. Many of my athletes are still in high school or college or playing for the AHL or NHL Bruins, but my practice has evolved to include many more adults - adults training for Ironman or their first 5K, adults who hope to improve body compositions and their health spans, and women in midlife who are navigating perimenopause or menopause. Maybe all of these apply to you.
Performance nutrition for health span refers to science backed nutrition recommendations that will support athletic and cognitive performance now, and health, vitality, and disease prevention now and in the future. It emphasizes nutrient-dense foods that fuel the body efficiently, support muscle maintenance, enhance metabolic function, and reduce inflammation—key factors in healthy aging. Afterall, it’s not simply about living longer; it’s about living well for longer.

One on one nutrition education and counseling over an 8-16 week period that aligns with your personal goals. Each plan I write is customized and tailored to your goals, lifestyle, stage, food preferences and priorities yet the goals among my clients often share commonality: to lose weight, gain muscle, manage menopause symptoms, improve cholesterol, glucose or blood pressure, improve sleep and energy levels, to stay active and to feel better.
HOW IT WORKS
8, 12 or 16 Weeks
You’ll have as needed access to Julie via text or email throughout the duration of the program.

The process begins with completing our online intake.
You’ll also take photos of everything you eat and drink x 3 days without making any changes. The photos can be kept on your camera roll until we meet. -
Next, you will meet with Julie for an initial consultation to discuss the completed intake form, goals, schedule and food preferences as well as to scroll through your photo food journal. Baseline body composition will be taken if a shift is part of your goals or if you’d like to understand where you are currently.

Julie will write a customized plan which will be emailed within 48 hours. The plan will provide goals, metrics, written recommendations for improvement, foundational principles, a roadmap for each day with lists of optimal choices and examples of meals and snacks, along with recipes, for each time of day based on goals, schedule, access and food preferences. Calories and macros will be included upon request.
Once you’ve had an opportunity to review the plan, a phone call will be scheduled with Julie to review the plan together. -
You will then take a second set of 3 days of photos. These should be taken during the first 3 days of implementation and texted to Julie in real time. This is an opportunity to receive feedback, support and additional suggestions, and to have questions answered.

The first follow up visit will be scheduled 7-10 days after the 3 days of photos and then meet every 2 weeks for a total period of 8, 12 or 16 weeks to discuss sleep, energy, digestion, mental clarity, as well as to review progress and to make modifications to ensure success.

To ensure continued success beyond the time of your program, 1/2 hour sessions are available. Sessions may include body composition analysis, 3 day food log review, revisions to original plan, recipes, suggestions for pre/post practice or workout, planning for tournaments, navigating best choices at a restaurant, or eating on the road.
